For several years around 1985 Liesbeth de Jonge has attended the rehearsals of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and she has sketched the musicians from life. She became acquainted with the Daniel String Quartet and attended their master-classes and concerts to paint and sketch. Two of her works were used for the covers of the compact discs made by the string quartet. In the summer of 2007 she was commissioned to paint the portraits of the famous Vermeer Quartet at their very last concerts in the Netherlands.
Recently, she was asked to paint portraits of musicians that retire from the Rotterdam Philharmonic.
